the chimneys of new york : a city under steam
New York City has 105 miles of steam pipes that run beneath the streets of the city. This steam system in Manhattan is the largest in the world and provides 2,000 buildings for heating and cooling. Sometimes, there can be condensation rising from manholes and those orange and white "Chimneys" are being installed. Those chimneys are sort part of urban-scape of Manhattan and this series documents the day to day scene in all weather conditions.
